Exciting highlights from this year
ANZAC Day
What a wonderful morning at the local ANZAC service in Kingscliff. A special thanks to the students, teachers and parents for their support and attendance.
On Tuesday 30th April, our student leaders led a beautiful ANZAC assembly at school. The students from K-6 made poppies and spent the morning reading ANZAC stories and learning about the history of the ANZACs. Thank you to the students for displaying enormous respect during the ceremony and to the community members who attended.
Far North Coast Dance Festival
What a fantastic performance from our wonderful boys and girls in this group! Their dance was outstanding, with huge smiles and excellent timing. Well done to all our students who were part of this.
NAIDOC Week
Our school welcomed Aunty Sonia, Aunty D, and Hope to our school, to share their knowledge, experience and passion around better understanding Aboriginal Culture, History and what NAIDOC Day is about. Students rotated between some physical activities such as boomerang throwing, some songs, language and fun games and also some cooking activities. They tasted kangaroo, damper and Davison Plum jam and they learned about how local Aboriginal families grew up around the Tweed.
Book Week
What a great day this was! Great costumes (thanks Parents and Carers!), lovely food (thanks P&C!), engaging activities (thanks Teachers and fun games (thanks kids!). This year’s theme was ‘Book an Adventure’ and didn’t everyone get into it!
Farmers Markets
What a fantastic afternoon this was! Farmer Kirk coordinated our annual Farmer’s Market in early Term 3 with all students being given the opportunity to peruse and buy their preferred product. These products came from our own school gardens, with some other items being donated by local parents. It was a pretty special activity, giving our students the opportunity to see how produce is grown, maintained, harvested and finally sold.
4/5/6 Camp
At the end of Term 3, our senior class enjoyed their annual major excursion. The students travelled to Brisbane to experience the Queensland Museum and also The Planetarium, and then stayed overnight at school. On Thursday they visited the Minjungbal Aboriginal Centre in Tweed and enjoyed some teams challenges on Kingscliff foreshore. The students really immersed themselves in each aspect of the camp and had a great time!
K-3 Excursion
In the end of Term 3, all K-3 enjoyed an excursion to The Farm in Byron Bay, followed by a trip to and around the lighthouse. They really enjoyed the chance to mix with the animals and experience the beautiful landscapes.
Jump Rope for Heart
Following many weeks of practice and exploration our whole school enjoyed a morning of skipping activities inspired by the Jump Rope for Heart Foundation. There was lots of creative actions, challenges and teamwork on display and the students had a really fun time.
Uniting Care Visit
In Term 4, our school performed items for the residents and staff at Uniting Care village in Kingscliff. All students were a part of something, including our AUSLAN choir, our ensemble program, our vocals program and a dance item that the students choreographed themselves! Certainly, the student’s efforts in at the Nursing Home left some beautiful memories for the residents.
School Disco
P&C hosted the annual School Disco at school. The kids had a heap of fun dressing up, playing games, dancing and laughing. What a great night!
